Kia Ora!

We are looking for expressions of interest from pilots wanting to join Air New Zealand in our Turboprop Fleets in 2020. Here, you’ll find yourself in the right-hand seat of an ATR or a Dash 8 Q300.

In our turboprop fleets, entry is at First Officer level and positions are located at a number of bases around the country. Whether you are looking for a career flying props or a pathway to our jet fleet, this is a great point of entry. As a First Officer flying a Dash 8 Q300 or an ATR, you will play a pivotal role in flying our customers to their destinations for work, business, family or pleasure.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the following requirements:

  • NZCAA CPL*
  • NZCAA MEIR*
  • NZCAA Class 1 Medical*
  • 500 hours total time
  • 25 night hours
  • 40 hours Instrument Flight Time
  • BTK, ILS, VOR endorsements
  • University Entrance / Equivalent
  • L6 English Language Proficiency
  • Entitled to live and work permanently in New Zealand (i.e. New Zealand Indefinite/Permanent Resident, New Zealand Citizen, or Australian Citizen)
  • Ability to swim 50 metres in under 2 minutes & tread water for 1 minute – wet drills are completed during training.

What’s in it for you? Our Pilots do more than fly planes, they take great pride in providing customers with safe and enjoyable journeys, wherever they travel with us. They are actively encouraged as a leader in all of their roles. Throughout your career, you’ll have development opportunities in areas such as training, management and projects.

All applications must be submitted online. You will need to have your logbook and licence information handy at the time of registration to complete your application. NOTE: If you have previously applied, you do not need to withdraw or apply again – just log into your profile to edit your personal profile details including qualifications and flight hours, and upload your updated CV. We review all new and updated active applications on an ongoing basis.

*Whilst you must meet these requirements prior to an offer of employment, we understand that you may have foreign-issued qualifications that could be converted to NZCAA licences. Should this be the case, we may consider your application while you are undertaking the conversion process with NZCAA. If applicable, you will need to complete the formal Foreign Licence Conversion initial process through Aspeq and provide a copy of the initial assessment letter ahead of being invited to interview. Please refer to NZCAA for more information: https://www.aviation.govt.nz/licensing-and-certification/pilots/pilot-licensing/recognising-foreign-pilot-licences/
